Landis+Gyr Chosen for Large Scale India Metering Project
Kolkata, India and Sydney, Australia, January 24, 2013, Landis+Gyr, the world's leading provider of smart grid and smart metering solutions, announced today that they have been selected by West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) to provide more than 1.5 million digital electricity meters for their modernization and rural electrification program.
This most recent award from WBSEDCL is believed to be the largest electricity metering order in India for supply single-phase meters. The delivery period will begin by month’s end and will conclude ten months later. This challenging schedule will require a dedicated manufacturing set-up for Landis+Gyr’s Joka unit, located in WBSEDCL’s home town of Kolkata.
